It
turns out that living simply isn’t simple. I have to work at it. I have to
rethink everything I’ve learned about what matters in life, what I “should”
value, and therefore pursue, in life. I have to learn new ways of doing things
and new ways of thinking. I have to be self-aware.
Living simply, simply living, is multi-faceted in my view:
It’s purging my home
of stuff, and organizing what is left.
It’s managing my time.
It’s saying no to some good things in favor of better
things.
It’s enjoying the simple things in life, and creating the experiences
I want.
It’s slowing down.
It’s wanting less, or rather, it is wanting what I already
have.
It’s eating less junk, and more real food.
It’s focusing on quality, rather than quantity.
It’s paying attention to the details.
It’s giving thought to what really matters, and letting the
rest go.
It’s living smaller, not larger.
It’s creating ease (not easy) in my life.
It’s exercising. Loving and caring for the body that I have.
It’s making time for myself and my interests so I can better
focus on everyone else and caring for them.
It’s being healthy and feeling good so I can enjoy life and
the moments in it.
It’s connecting with others (simple moments).
It’s organizing and prioritizing my day so I have time for
everything that is important to me.
